Tax Consultant – U.S. Business Tax Services (Preparation & Research)

Position Summary

Execute core U.S. Federal and State tax compliance tasks for business clients. This role involves the preparation of complex work papers, detailed technical research, and utilizing advanced tax technology to ensure the accuracy and timely filing of client tax returns. The Tax Consultant works directly under the supervision of a Tax Senior.

Work You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Prepare U.S. Federal and State income tax returns for various business entities, primarily focusing on complex partnerships (Form 1065) and corporations (Form 1120).
  • Generate detailed tax work papers and schedules to support all tax positions, including book-to-tax differences, depreciation, and international informational returns (e.g., Forms 5471, 8865, etc.).
  • Conduct comprehensive tax research on technical tax issues related to corporate, partnership, and investment management tax matters, preparing clear summaries for review by Tax Seniors.
  • Assist with tax planning and tax accounting projects, specifically focusing on data extraction, analysis of financial statements, and initial preparation of tax provision calculations.
  • Manage client data intake by communicating with U.S. engagement teams to ensure all required documentation (trial balance, financial data, legal documents) is obtained and properly organized for return preparation.
  • Utilize advanced tax software and proprietary technology (e.g., CCH Axcess, GoSystem, OneSource) to process returns efficiently and accurately.
  • Actively participate in specialized technical training on U.S. tax law and firm methodologies to build core competence in the financial services sector.

Required Qualification

  • 1-3 years of experience in U.S. Federal Income Tax compliance (Corporate and/or Partnership).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong technical foundation in U.S. GAAP and tax accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software (experience with any major platform is a plus).
  • Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex data manipulation, reconciliation, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate technical findings clearly.
  • Commitment to pursuing professional credentials such as EA (Enrolled Agent) or CPA.

Work Details

  • Work Location: Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
  • Shift Timings: Primarily to support U.S. time zones: 11 AM to 8 PM IST, or 2 PM to 11 PM IST.
